There are, as ever a huge range of activities taking place at Open Ealing over the next month.

As well as a number of art courses for both beginners and the more experienced there is live music, live theatre performance and exhibitions.

Courses & Workshops

Intermediate Drawing Class with Jessica Rose

Tuesdays 6.30 - 8.30pm
7 September - 19 October
You'll learn how to tackle more difficult subjects and explore various techniques including how to accurately measure and proportion your pictures. Sessions include structured exercises and the opportunity to work on your own subjects. For more info and to book a space click here.

Rodin Inspired Life Painting with Gail Astbury

Tuesdays 10am - 12pm
14 September - 19 October
Rodin adopted a studious approach to the human body, building up as complete a picture as possible. He was able to capture their essence by using quick changing poses and watercolour paints which creates lightness and fluidity. As a watercolour artist, Gail has always been drawn to these studies as stand out beautiful works and they will be the inspiration for these painting and drawing sessions with a life model. Turner's Influence on Three Contemporary Artists

Tuesdays 2 - 4.30pm
14 September - 19 October
Turner was a master of history, landscape and marine painting and constantly challenged accepted conventions. IN this 6 week course we explore his extensive works in the Tate and National Galleries and how 3 contemporary artists evoke Turnerian themes and subjects in their work. Painting Autumn in Oils

Wednesdays 10am - 1pm
15 September - 6 October
A set of four workshops led by experienced artist and tutor, Diana Braybrook. The course is suitable for oil painters at any level and is limited to 8 artists. Your aim during the course is to capture Autumn in all its vibrancy. You'll cover several topics such as how to plan the painting, the initial layer, the mid ground and finally the all-important foreground. The sessions are relaxed and an excellent opportunity to develop your artistic practise, or learn how to use a new medium in the company of likeminded people. Explore Mixed Media Techniques

Wednesdays 2 - 4pm
15 September - 20 October
A six week course suitable for all levels of experience during which we focus on technical skills using simple media. You'll be supported individually by the tutor and receive regular feedback and demonstrations that could help you improve your style, or create more dynamic work. In addition to working in study pieces that help improve your technical skills, you will be able to work on subjects of your own choosing. The course is limited to 8 artists. Life Drawing

Wednesdays 7 - 9pm
1 - 29 September
A two hour untutored session for artists who have some experience of life drawing or like drawing under their own steam. Experienced models strike a series of short and long poses. The sessions are limited to 15 artists so booking is essential. For more info and to book a space click here.

Learn to Draw with Shelia Moylan

Fridays 10am - 12pm
17 September - 22 October
An introductory course for complete beginners, or those who want to refresh skills last used years ago! It is a practical course which will increase your confidence in your mark making ability and be able to draw still life, interiors and people. All materials are included in the course fees. Develop your Technique with Pastels

Fridays 10am - 1pm
3 - 24 September
Limited to 8 artists this course is aimed at those who want to develop their techniques in using this versatile medium. In the four week course you cover people and portraits, abstract, landscapes and figures. For more info and to book a space click here.

Saturday Morning Life Drawing

Saturdays 10am - 12pm
25 September - 23 October
If you have little or no experience in life drawing and want to know how to draw the human figure, this session is ideal. Led by experienced tutor and artist, Sheila Moylan you learn how to approach the subject and develop your confidence in drawing the human figure. It is a relaxed two hour session and the ideal way to start your weekend. Book your spot.

Jewellery making for beginners using lost wax

Saturday 1.30 - 3.30pm
25 September
Limited to 5 participants this two hour workshop led by professional designer and maker Ange B is a fabulous way to release your creativity and carve a ring or pendant to your own design. The fee covers all materials including making your design in sterling silver and finishing by Ange B. The workshops are suitable for people aged 15 or older. The Dancing Elephant

The fourth production in a collaboration with A Wonderful Adventure : Around the World in Eight Plays... This African folk lore has been adapted by A Wonderful Adventure so the whole family can enjoy it and follow the trials and tribulations of Mashudu.
