LatinoLife in the Park will return to Walpole Park this summer, marking its tenth year as one of the country’s most prominent celebrations of Latin American music and culture. The one-day festival takes place on Sunday 19 July, running from midday until 10pm and several thousand people are expected to attend.
What began a decade ago as a small community-driven initiative has since grown into the UK’s largest one-day Latin culture festival, drawing thousands of visitors annually. The event was founded by journalist Amaranta Wright and DJ Jose Luis Seijas, who set out to create a platform for UK-based Latin artists at a time when most Latin music events focused on international acts flown in from abroad.
Over the years, the festival has become known for spotlighting emerging talent and for its role in developing a distinctly UK-Latin sound that blends Latin rhythms with British urban influences. Many of the artists who have appeared at the event have come through LatinoLife’s wider mentoring and development programmes, which have been running for more than 25 years.
This year’s edition marks a milestone for the organisers, who say the anniversary offers a moment to reflect on how the festival has helped raise the profile of underrepresented musicians and contributed to cultural exchange between the UK and Latin America. Early
