Hanwell’s free music festival, the Hanwell Hootie, will return on Saturday 9 May, and organisers have officially opened submissions for bands and solo artists eager to perform.

Now entering its 14th year, the Hootie has grown from a local celebration into one of West London’s most dynamic showcases for emerging talent. Over the years, it has hosted more than 800 artists and drawn over 400,000 music fans, with past performers including The Magic Numbers, The Carnabys, The Dunwells, and Minnie Birch—many of whom have gone on to national tours and media acclaim.

The festival remains proudly free to attend, while ensuring artists are paid a fair fee for their performances. With multiple slots available across pubs, venues, and outdoor stages, the Hootie offers a rare platform for grassroots musicians to connect with new audiences.

Rooted in Hanwell’s musical heritage—home to the first Marshall amplifier shop in 1962—the Hootie embraces its nickname as “the home of loud”, celebrating both the area’s rock legacy and its diverse contemporary soundscape. Organisers say the festival is committed to showcasing artists from all backgrounds and genres, with a strong belief that “the most exciting new music comes from artists of diverse backgrounds.”

Musicians interested in performing can apply now via Amplead.
