A planning application (P/2025/1898) has been submitted to Hounslow Council to enable the change of signage on the WH Smith store on Chiswick High Road.

Modella Capital bought 480 of the high street chain’s stores in March for £76million. The acquisition formally completed this month and the race is on to be the first shop to carry the new livery. The W4 branch's application has come just after stores in villages like Leominster, Ross on Wye, and Witney have made their bid for planning permission to change signage.

Modella says the that the change over will be gradual and the format of the stores will remain the same including the retention of Post Office counters and Toys “R” Us corners. However, the new owner has not announced plans to open any new Post Offices and the designs submitted with the application give no indication that this is being considered for this branch.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
