Chiswick tot wins over audience and judges at Ealing Dance Festival
Is little Sophie Hunter a star of the future? At the tender age of four, Sophie wowed the audience at Ealing Dance Festival last week to win not only her dance section, but also the Baby Stage Cup.
Her song and tap dance rendition of ‘A Windmill in Old Amsterdam’ won not only the audience over, but also the adjudicator who said that Sophie showed a lot of potential and made a wonderfully rehearsed stage exit after she had finished her dance.
Jennifer, Sophie’s mum said, "Sophie wasn’t in the slightest bit nervous at dancing on a large stage by herself for the first time. However, I was really nervous!"
Sophie is a student at Chiswick Theatre Arts and is the first student entered by them at a Dance Festival. Georgina Burns, Principal of Chiswick Theatre Arts said, "As of next year I will be entering more students into Dance Festivals, but as a new dance centre I wanted to see how we would do."
She continued, "I am absolutely thrilled by Sophie’s success. She shows a lot of promise as a dancer and is a natural performer. Dance Festivals are an important part in dance training as it allows young dancers to perform solo dance and singing numbers on stage from an early age."
Chiswick Theatre Arts will be holding their 1st Annual Summer Show on Saturday June 27th at Queen Charlottes Hall, Richmond.
