Chiswick ranked amongst prime locations for city bonus spending
'Sophisticated and fashionable' Chiswick is amongst the prime locations for bankers to spend their bonuses according to a property website.
According to Primelocation, which ranked Chiswick 11th out of the country's Top 20, if you were asked to design a fashionable and sophisticated village close to the heart of London, you’d find plenty of inspiration in Chiswick.
Jason Scott, of Faron Sutaria, said: “We’re getting a lot of interest from sellers at the moment, testing the market in advance of bonuses, and some interest from buyers.
“The big attraction here is the Bedford Park conservation area – beautiful, large family homes with a lot of cachet and prestige. The Norman Shaw houses are especially popular and often sell above asking price – we’ve had bankers come here and ask owners ‘how much do you want for it?’. They sell for up to £3.5m.
“We also get younger buyers – newly-weds for example – who maybe used to live in a trendier area like Clerkenwell or Bankside – who come to Chiswick for the more settled feel.
“They’re junior bankers, or lawyers who are not partners yet. They like Chiswick for the village vibe: it has a butcher, a fishmonger, wine bars, restaurants. They’re spending maybe £500,000-800,000 for three-bed terraces in places like the Glebe Estate."
