Chiswick knows the value of a good high street better than most. From Chiswick High Road to Turnham Green Terrace, W4's independent shops, cafés and businesses are still where neighbours bump into each other and local news travels.
For Horton and Garton, that local connection extends across two neighbouring communities. With one office in Chiswick and another in Hammersmith, just a mile apart, the team regularly walk or cycle between the two.
So while its recent award was given by Hammersmith and Fulham, it is news worth sharing in Chiswick too. Horton and Garton was named High Street Business of the Year at the 2026 Hammersmith and Fulham Business Awards.
The awards, held at Hammersmith's new Civic Campus, drew more than 160 applications. A panel of 24 judges from the local business community narrowed the field to 49 finalists before choosing 19 winners.
A front door on the high street
Not every estate agent keeps a high street office anymore. Horton and Garton has taken the opposite view since opening in Hammersmith in 2008. It believes clients should be able to push open the door for a chat and neighbours should feel free to stop by with news.
Eighteen years since opening its doors, the business has grown to a team of more than 20 across two offices in Hammersmith and Chiswick, covering W4, W6, W12 and the postcodes around them.
Most of the team live within walking distance of the office, and there are homes on its books it has now sold four times over!
Part of Chiswick life
Many W4 residents will know Horton and Garton as much for what it supports as for property. It is a long-standing sponsor of Artists at Home, the open studios weekend held across Chiswick, Hammersmith, Shepherd's Bush, and surrounding areas each June. It has also played a part in the Bedford Park Festival.
Beyond that, the team has volunteered with The Upper Room and supported Dad's House, the local foodbank, the RNLI and local schools and choirs.
