Local club to cater for age groups 4 -11
Chiswick Rugby Club have been established in Chiswick since 1958 and play both merit and friendly games every week at their ground in Dukes meadows, situated by Chiswick bridge, Riverside lands, W4 2SH.
They are very much a local club, playing an active part of the local community, as well as providing a home from home for those from further afield who are living in London and wish to play and socialise.
The club has always catered for adults who wish to play and the current retinue consists of players from 18 to 68. The growing popularity of rugby has seen a number of enquiries from younger age groups and the club set up a special committee earlier in the year to review what they could do to cater for this demand. Following on from this, they are now establishing mini rugby squads. They are keen to hear from any parents who would like to see their sons don a Chiswick shirt and represent them.
Age groups from 4 to 11 are welcome and will be appropriately age streamed. The rules change as the ages progress upwards. Currently four year olds can run with the ball and be ticked instead of tackling and there is a progressive escalation of contact.
They are in the process of visiting local schools to publicise the launch. Enquiries to chiswickrfcmt@yahoo.co.uk
