              Meadonians win second trophy
            Unique
treble still a possibility as Meads take London Old Boys' Senior
              Cup
            Two
weeks ago Old Meadonians first team won the Amateur Football Alliance
Middlesex Senior Cup by beating Winchmore Hill 2-0 at the Civil
              Service ground.

On Tuesday the 8th April they beat Old Ignations at Wingate Finchley
Stadium 4-2 to win the London Old Boys’ Senior Cup and now face
a run in of seven games in their bid to achieve a unique triple
by taking the first ever Premiership title of the newly formed Amateur
              Football Combination.

The unsung hero of Tuesday’s game was striker Colin Hawkins with
his selfless and pacey running up front which was a major factor
in drawing Ignation’s sting. For three quarters of the normal game
he and co-striker Steve Bowring provided Meads’ with a ready outlet
as the Chiswick side struggled to find their form. On twenty minutes,
hesitation in Meads’ defence allowed Ignations to take a soft lead
              against the run of play.

It took them until fifteen minutes of full time to draw level through
central defender Len Wapshott. Skipper Steve Kearney then smashed
them ahead from a narrow angle only to see poor work at the back
concede the lead in the dying seconds. In extra time Meads came
into their own with two pieces of individual magic. First sub Danny
Bond beat four men in a mazy run from forty yards out and fed Jack
Costello whose shot screamed into the far corner. Then central defender
Dave Butler ran through from halfway and dipped the ball over the
goalie from the edge of the area.

Team: Kris Sayers, Dan Salanson, (Danny Bond), Dave Butler,
Len Wapshott, Lovell), Dermott Jordan, Jack Costello, Ben Fox, (Pete
Lovell), Steve Kearney, Steve Bowring, (Ezra Chapman), Colin Hawkins.
