Reopening on the 12th September
On Monday September 12th, Sam’s Brasserie and Bar re-opens after a full refurbishment of the bar as well as improvements to the main restaurant.
When we met up with owner Sam Harrison, he told us the following about the refurbishment. “Having been open for six years, I felt it was time to give the bar a new look and a revamp. Although I loved the old bar and it has done us proud, it felt the right time to make some changes. For the new look I have taken inspiration from many of my favourite New York drinking spots and also places I used to hang out in when I live in Sydney, before opening Sam’s.
"We have also been working on a new cocktail list, selection of beers and a whole new wine list. This has obviously been very tough work and we hope you enjoy the new drinks as much as we do!
"My Head Chef and I have also been working on new dishes for the restaurant and bar menus. My research trips to New York will firmly come into play in the bar with the likes of Mackerel Burgers, Butchers Board, Ice Berg Wedges available on the bar menu and Buttermilk Pancake stacks on the brunch menu
"In the main restaurant we will be putting in some new fixed seating and tiling and also have a whole new menu to try! New additions will include Crispy Chicken, Creamed Sweet Corn and Chanterelles or Rick Stein’s Goan Fish Curry or Little Gem, Citrus and Pomegranate Salad”
Sam’s fellow owner Rick Stein had the following to say about the works: "Much as I'm a massive enthusiast of Sam's Brasserie, I've always felt the bar could be more of a destination in it's own right so I'm really excited about the new plans and can't wait to see the new bar up and running."
