A great start to the season
Old Actonians ladies 1st team continued their unbeaten start to the season with a scrappy 3-0 win at Eastbourne Town. The West Londoners started sluggishly, with neither team looking likely to score in the first 45. They managed to turn things around in the second half, however, after a Chelsea Berlin long ball found winger and player of the match Tasha Cree who rounded the keeper and slotted home.
The visitors doubled their lead when a deep Sharon Odofin cross found Shadia Edwards-Dashti, who beat the offside trap and set up striker Carla Williams-Chitty for the simplest of tap ins. Odofin was in action again shortly afte,r when her curling shot was helped into the top corner thanks to a strong coastal breeze.
The win puts Acton second in the league with two games in hand. Coaches Daniel Chitty and Nabil Khaliq will hope to see an improved performance when the team face tougher competition against Crawley Wasps next Sunday.
Meanwhile the reserves pulled off a great win in the Capital Junior Cup beating Camden Town 2nds from the division above 1-0, Yvonne Biggins scoring a great match winning goal and Nicole Cho-Yee putting in a player of the match performance in defence.
On Saturday the U13's lost heavily 7-1 at Larskpur Rovers but can take heart from a much improved 2nd half performance when they got to a 1-1 draw.
