The metal plates protecting the Hole in the Wall pub on Sutton Lane North have been removed and work is taking place to clear the site. According to a staff member involved in the project this is with a view to reopening at a date yet to be confirmed.

The keys were handed back by the previous tenants earlier this year, with the contents of the pub left inside, but it is understood the preparatory work is being done on behalf of The Morgan Pub Collective.

This is an independent pub group with over 40 venues known for breathing new life into traditional neighbourhood watering holes across London and the Home Counties. Founded by veteran publican Dick Morgan, the company champions characterful, community-focused establishments, avoiding one-size-fits-all formulas in favour of preserving each pub's distinct history. Rather than imposing rigid branding, its approach blends cask ales and craft beers, individual designed food menus, and comfortable interiors.

The group already operates a number of pubs in the area including the Express Tavern in Brentford and The Prince of Wales on Dalling Road in Hammersmith. It also runs The Hand & Flower in Richmond and The Victoria in East Sheen.

The Morgan Pub Collective has a reputation as a ‘pub restorer’ which takes struggling neighbourhood pubs and revitalises them. CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) has praised its approach and offerings at other venues.

It is believed that the company has taken the premises on a long lease. Typically, it negotiates these on a free-of-tie basis which gives it the flexibility to stock beers from independent brewers.

The pub was vacated on around 11 June this year and was quickly secured suggesting a prolonged closure was possible with some regulars fearing it could mark the end for a pub on the site which has seen several owners over the last decade. It had been known as The Queen’s Head up until May 2024.

Records suggest there has been a pub here since 1722, when it was first known as The Queen's Head. The current building dates from 1925, when it was rebuilt in the distinctive "Brewers Tudor" style by Nowell Parr, the celebrated pub architect who worked extensively across west London in the early twentieth century. His other Chiswick designs include the Old Pack Horse on Chiswick High Road, which is Grade II listed. The Hole in the Wall building does not itself appear on the Historic England National Heritage List — though CAMRA recognises it as a pub of historic interest.

According to the Hounslow Council licensing register, licence for the premises continues held by EI Group Ltd, a subsidiary of the Stonegate Group, one of the UK's largest pub companies.
