The restaurant has been at 101 Chiswick High Road since 1970

What is believed to be Chiswick’s longest established restaurant is set to serve its last customers this Sunday (13 December).
The owner of the Annapurna has confirmed that the local curry house is to shut having been at the same location at 101 Chiswick High Road since 1970.
The family-owned establishment was seen as a community asset and offered authentic Indian and Bangladeshi dishes, prepared using a traditional charcoal clay oven.
When we told the owner, Mr Ahmed that there would be a lot of disappointed customers who had been visiting or ordering takeaway for decades he said, “Sorry about that!” but explained that the restaurant business in general had become increasing tough and its trade had not been great for some time.
He did say that there was a possibility that someone else could take over the site but there was no firm plan in place.
Popular menu items include Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Lamb Chops and Thali platters. The restaurant was known for balancing classic curries with lighter, modern options, appealing to both traditional diners and those seeking healthier choices.
It had a four-star rating on Tripadvisor placing it in the top half of restaurants in London and its Google Reviews praised the friendly service and consistent quality. It became one of a decreasing number of affordable places to eat on the High Road.
The closure restricts the already limited choice of Indian cuisine in W4. The more upmarket Indian Zing is across the border in Hammersmith and Peppers is on Fauconberg Road.
