New Artwork Unveiled on Turnham Green Terrace Piazza
The Ceiling in the Sky by Cristina Schek now occupies the 'W4th Plinth'

A ceremony took place this Sunday (23 April) to unveil the new piece of artwork for the so-called W4th Plinth.
After being selected from nearly 500 entries, The Ceiling in the Sky by Cristina Schek will now be positioned on the railway embankment by Turnham Green Terrace Piazza.
The picture was shortlisted by a panel of judges along with another piece by the same artist. 'Thousands' of votes were cast in a poll by members of the public to pick the winner.

Cristina Schek is a self-taught Surrealist artist, from Transylvania in Romania, who uses conceptual fine-art photography as her main medium.
She explained the winner piece by saying, "With this artwork we go back in time to that pure wild wood that will eventually be urbanised and populated by some of the greatest creative minds in history. Within the canopy of the forest, we can see projections of their future imaginations. This is the fertile forest floor from where the creations of many artists could grow tall and strong, reaching up to the sky."

The artist will be present at the unveiling and signed limited editions of the new artwork will be available for purchase. There will be some refreshments to celebrate, offered by Harriet Benton Events.
Karen Liebreich of Abundance London, the volunteer group which organises the installation, said, "Her work perfectly symbolises the intersection between art and nature that Abundance also strives for."
