Land is part of Brentford stadium development area
A group of travellers has moved onto a site close to Kew House School.
At least eight caravans moved in a few days ago onto a small disused site at the back of the independent co-educational secondary school at Capital Interchange Way.
A parent said that they were concerned that there was a traveller encampment in the area.
The land is owned by Hounslow Council and was compulsory
purchased as part of the Brentford football stadium redevelopment and is leased
to Brentford Football Club.
Hounslow Police team have visited the site and engaged with
the travellers. Brentford FC are taking legal action to have them evicted
from the site, but there is no further information on this at present.
Last year a group of over twenty caravans took up residence nearby at the former BT telephone exchange between Chiswick Roundabout and Kew Bridge, at a site formerly known as Wheatstone House. They were eventually moved on after enforcement action was taken by police and the local authority. That building has now been turned into residential accommodation.
There have been encampments near the Lionel Road development site and Ballymore sites in the past two years.
We have asked Kew School for comment.
