Ginkgo Corner, the new area of seating and flower beds in the corner of the car park in the town centre, is to be officially opened during the next Chiswick Flower Market.

Work on the new public space, which has been designed by Luke Greysmith, with benches built specially by Woodscape, is nearing completion.

Volunteers, along with gardeners from Hounslow Highways, have been planting up the garden at Old Market Place which is expected to be ready by Sunday 6 April when the ribbon will be cut.

There will be a celebratory launch with two local residents, both famous for their gardening knowledge, doing the honours. Arit Anderson from BBC Gardeners World, and Nicky Chapman who presents broadcasts from Chelsea Flower Show will be there at 10.30am.

The project features a new tree, a Flowering Dogwood ‘Butterfly’, along with lots more pollinator-friendly planting around the existing Ginkgo biloba tree.

The market will take place between 9am and 4pm with the usual spring plants and flowers, music, drinks and entertainment. There will also be a special Dog Market annex, organised by Woofabout, featuring specialist canine treats and products.

Ginkgo Corner is one of several projects that the Chiswick Flower Market team has delivered since we were founded in 2020, including Christmas tree celebrations, planting up the High Road flower beds and funding various school greening projects. All of the profits go straight back into improving the local area.

Ginkgo Corner is the culmination of two years of work, following a wider public consultation and has been a co-operation between the Chiswick Flower Market, London Borough of Hounslow and Hounslow Highways. Funding came from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Chiswick Flower Market.
