A reindeer joined the crowd at last year's event
November 17, 2024
Chiswick will sparkle once again as its Christmas trees and festive lights are switched on this Thursday, 27 November , with a programme of dance and carols performed by students from CTA Performing Arts.
The celebrations begin at 5.15pm with a dance performance and carol singing by the musical theatre and dance company’s young performers, aged between seven and 14. At 5.25pm, the lights will be officially switched on by Father Christmas himself, accompanied by his elf, at the Christmas tree on the corner of Annandale Road and Chiswick High Road.
The switch-on will illuminate not only the main tree but also the streetlights along Chiswick High Road, Turnham Green Terrace, and Devonshire Road, as well as a second tree at the top of Turnham Green Terrace. The festive display is made possible by the Chiswick Lighting Company with support from Hounslow Highways, and the trees have been provided by Wheeler’s of Chiswick.
Father Christmas expressed his delight at returning to Chiswick, “I love visiting Chiswick and seeing its sparkly lights as I swoop in on the sleigh to fill stockings and fulfil the dreams of Chiswick’s children. They leave the best treats for the reindeer and me.”
The event promises to be a magical evening for families and residents, with festive cheer, music, and the chance to meet Father Christmas.
