Parents in Chiswick will be able to keep their festive surprises under wraps this year thanks to an initiative from Travelodge. The budget hotel chain has announced it will open free “wrapping rooms” at its recently opened London Chiswick High Road hotel on Wednesday 10 December, giving families a private space to prepare gifts away from prying eyes.
The rooms, available to book in 75-minute slots, will be festively decorated and stocked with wrapping paper, tape, ribbons and tags. Guests will also be treated to refreshments and a mince pie to help make the experience more enjoyable.
The Chiswick site, which opened in April 2025 with 113 rooms at 632 Chiswick High Road, is one of three Travelodge locations offering the service this Christmas, alongside Manchester and Edinburgh.
Travelodge says the initiative was inspired by research showing:
A spokesperson for Travelodge said, “We want to preserve the magic of Christmas and ensure that the festive build-up is as stress-free as possible. Wrapping gifts should be a relaxing experience, free from the fear of others walking in. This Christmas, if you need to keep your present prep under wraps, you better get a Travelodge — either one of our free wrapping rooms or an overnight stay.”
The free wrapping rooms are available to book now by emailing PR.events@travelodge.co.uk.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets. We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more. However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do. One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute. For businesses we offer the chance to be a corporate sponsor of community content on the site. For £30 plus VAT per month you will be the designated sponsor of at least one article a month with your logo appearing if supplied. If there is a specific community group or initiative you’d like to support we can make sure your sponsorship is featured on related content for a one off payment of £50 plus VAT.
