The Rediscovered Songs of Herbert Murrill is a talk presented by The Friends of St Nicholas Church.
It is an opportunity to hear Crispin Lewis tell the remarkable story of Herbert Murrill and hear recently rediscovered songs by the former St Nicholas organist,.
Learn about Murrill's parallel life as a Bletchley Park code-breaker, including the astonishing musical activity mounted in that place, alongside his rise to the top of the BBC.
The talk will be interspersed with a performance of his highly attractive and varied songs, many of which have only recently been rediscovered in the BBC archives, ahead of a new recording.
The talk takes place in St Nicholas Church on Wednesday 19 March at 7pm.
Entrance on door cost £12 or £7 for under 25s. There is no charge for Friends of St. Nicholas Church.
The doors to the venue open at 6:30pm from which time refreshments will be available.
The Friends of St. Nicholas Church in Chiswick is a charitable organisation dedicated to the repair and maintenance of the historic building, its churchyard, and associated fixtures. Founded in 1984, the group raises funds through member subscriptions and events to support projects such as installing new lighting and sound systems, enhancing security measures, and restoring significant tombs, including that of artist William Hogarth. They also organise cultural events like lectures and concerts to engage the community and promote the church's heritage
