A previous Viennese concert at St. Michael and All Angels
December 28, 2024
2025 is the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the garden suburb of Bedford Park and celebrations begin on the very first New Year.
Tickets have gone on sale for ‘A Viennese New Year at St Michael’s’, a concert at 4.30pm on New Year’s Day. In a joyous concert that will also mark the bicentenary of the Waltz King, Johann Strauss II, David Juritz and the Strauss Orchestra of London are bringing Vienna to St Michael & All Angels Church.
The inaugural Viennese concert held last year sold out so don’t delay if you wish to purchase tickets.
Presented by broadcaster, musician and lecturer Sandy Burnett, a specially chosen programme includes turns by soprano Milly Forrest, virtuoso pianist Mark Viner and Father Kevin Morris, the vicar of St Michael & All Angels Church.
As well as essential Viennese classics such as the Blue Danube, Radetsky March and Thunder and Lightning Polka, the music will reflect life, past and present, in the world’s first garden suburb. It will include Bahn Frei by Eduard Strauss, a reference to the steam train that ran from London to Turnham Green. The station master will be Fr Kevin, with a suitable hat, bell and whistles.
Tickets cost £20 or £5 for under-18s or £45 for a family of four: Tickets on sale here .

Profits from the concert will be shared between two charities: The Upper Room and St Michael & All Angels Church’s Heritage Conservation Fund. The concert is sponsored by Home Instead, Hammersmith & Chiswick.
It is the first of a series of anniversary events in 2025 being co-ordinated by The Bedford Park Society and St Michael & All Angels Church. Celebrating the rich architectural heritage and social history of Bedford Park, the events will be open to everyone and will be widely promoted under the specially designed 150th logo .
