Reels, Jigs and Strathspeys at Chiswick Scottish Country Dance Club's “Midsummer Magic” event
Toe tapping music filled the air at Chiswick House Gardens on Sunday evening as over a hundred people took to the grassy lawns for a breathtaking programme of Reels, Jigs and Strathspeys.
Members and friends of the ten year old Chiswick Scottish Country Dance Club celebrated their year end with their annual “Midsummer Magic” Picnic Dance. Mairi’s Wedding, Reel of the Royal Scots and Kendall’s Hornpipe were among the many dances which graced this most sociable of evenings.
Top rated Frank Reid’s Band provided a fantastic range of happy dancing tunes to ensure the event went with a “reel” swing.
Special guest at the party was Mayor of Hounslow, Councillor Amrit Mann, who met and chatted to members and enjoyed his first Scottish Dance steps by joining in the “Dashing White Sergeant” He applauded both the health and fitness benefits of the dancing, as well continuing a fine piece of cultural heritage.
Club Chairman Nick Haimendorf said “This has been a fantastic evening for everyone and a great end to our dancing season – it’s a lovely venue and a highlight of our dancing year”
