CHISWICK BASED ACTRESS IN ONE WOMAN SHOW
"Candid tales of love and nostalgia sprinkled with humour" Chiswick based Nora Armani is currently performing her one woman show in the New End Theatre Hampstead. Nora performed the play on tour recently in Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia and Montreal, as well as in its French version in Paris, where it will be seen again in June, September and October. She is an award-winning actress with a long-standing international stage and film career. She has performed in many countries in different languages and she is the recipient of several awards for performance and creation: most recently Best Actress at the Siunik Film Festival in Armenia. "She holds two passports, two degrees - one of which from London, commands 6.5 languages, and personifies the transnational. " "Cairo in the 60s, Hollywood in the 80s, London in the 90s…The Bosphorus & Istanbul, Anatolian summers, Cairo and its synagogues, Alexandria and its port, Khan El Khalili and its spices, Hollywood and its follies are contrasted with the Scottish Highlands. The saga of an Egyptian Armenian family unfolds when the actress spots her old flame, a Scottish aristocrat she hasn't seen for over a decade, sitting in the audience. Memories spring out like colourful scarves from a magician's hat… And the search of one woman for her cultural affiliations, her identity and her emotional ties begins. The play is directed by François Kergourlay of the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique and La Comédie Française, former director of Théâtre Firmin Gémier-Antony. Lighting design is by Jean-Pierre Marry of Théâtre du Soleil and Comédie des Champs Elysées. Performances are 16 & 17, 23 & 24 June at 8pm at the New End Theatre in Hampstead, 27 New End, London NW3.
