It is one of the oldest sports clubs in Chiswick
May 26, 2026
One of Chiswick’s oldest sports clubs will be welcoming families to Dukes Meadows next month for its first Fun Day of the year, combining friendly games, food and fundraising for a good cause.
The Masonian Bowls Club will open its gates on Sunday 7 June for a day of community celebration, running from 10am until around 6.30pm. The event is open to all ages, with proceeds going to Chase Children’s Charity, which supports children with life‑limiting conditions and their families.
Visitors can enjoy a relaxed day on the green, with informal bowling sessions and a chance to meet club members. A barbecue will start at 2.30pm, offering a sociable afternoon atmosphere beside the Thames.
Founded in 1920 by Chiswick entrepreneurs Dan and Charles Mason, the club has been part of local life for more than a century.
The Masonian Bowls Club continues to champion community sport and accessibility, encouraging newcomers to try bowls on Thursday evenings and Sunday sessions throughout the season. Equipment is available to borrow, and the only requirement is to wear flat shoes.
Club members say they are proud to combine sport with charity, following a long tradition of fundraising events supported by Dukes Meadows Trust, which helps maintain the greens and keep membership fees affordable.

The Bowls Green and Club are in Market Drive W4 2RX, where the Food Market is held.
