Chainsaws At Dawn
Gunnersbury
residents subjected to noisy nocturnal maintenance work on tube line
Residents local to Gunnersbury tube station were woken at 3.00am last
Monday morning by the sound of chainsaws being revved up for ‘essential
maintenance’ work. Their vital task being to chop branches off from the
trees next to the tracks.
One local, justifiably upset by his broken sleep, questioned the legality of the noise stated “London Underground seem to have no problems canceling trains due to signal failures so why can't they cancel some trains and finish their 'track works' during daytime or late evenings?” He went on to complain that they had been no prior warning of the works.
London Underground are yet to provide an explanation.
