Ken overwhelmed by response from Chiswick's residents
Mayor hails local commitment to making Chiswick a better place to live and asks for more time to answer your questions
Ken Livingstone has admitted to being taken aback by the level of response
to his offer to answer questions addressed to him by the people of W4.
He recently asked members of ChiswickW4.com
to send him questions on matters of local concern.
He said, "It wasn't just the number of questions but the quality.
They were overwhelmingly constructive and well-informed. Clearly people
in your part of London are very committed to making it an even better
place to live."
Such was the volume of questions that the Mayor has asked for more time
to provide answers.
He stated,
"Many issues have been raised and, as I was not familiar with the
detail of some, extra briefing is needed before I can provide a proper
response. I am learning much about your area in the process."
He wasn't surprised by two issues that were raised again and again, "I
can see from the number of questions that the Piccadilly line service
at Turnham Green tube and the congestion charge are the principal concerns
of local people and I will certainly be addressing these two issues."
Over 60%
of the questions sent to the Mayor concerned these particular matters.
The Mayor said that he will try to answer all the questions sent to him.
Some answers may not be included in the published responses that will
appear on this site. Responses that concern matters not specifically related
to Chiswick or that were submitted too late for inclusion will be sent
directly to the person who sent in the question. The aim is to publish
answers early in May.
As the questions and answers will focus on this part of London the Mayor suggests a visit to www.london.gov.uk for more general information about his work and the work of the GLA.
