Dukes Meadows Trust is celebrating a major achievement after being awarded Gold, the highest honour in this year’s London in Bloom awards. In a further accolade for the organisation, Trust founder member and Director Kathleen Healy received the only Judges Award given this year.

Judge Sarah Syborn praised the transformation of Dukes Meadows and the decades of community effort behind it. “The Dukes Meadows Trust began as a local community group over 30 years ago and through hard work and ambition has become the wonderful multi-purpose neighbourhood space it is today,” she said. “This previously neglected park has been transformed by complete regeneration to be a great success. The Trust, volunteers and residents should be rightly proud of what they have created. Kathleen Healy is to be particularly commended on her passion to drive it on to greater things.”

Trust Chair Paul Davis thanked the organisation’s volunteer team and Lampton Greenspace, the Council’s contractors, for their role in maintaining the park. He paid particular tribute to Steve Reid, who keeps the site clean and welcoming. “Steve loves the park as much as we do and does a fantastic job keeping it looking good,” Davis said. “He also knows many of the people who use the park in the morning and is a friendly welcoming face.”

Paul highlighted how the Trust’s model — combining income from its weekly Food Market and Artists’ Studios, regular volunteer sessions, and support from Lampton Greenspace — has enabled the creation and upkeep of a high‑quality park “at little public cost”.

The Gold award marks another milestone for Dukes Meadows Trust, which has spent decades restoring and improving the riverside park, turning a once‑neglected space into one of the Chiswick’s most valued community assets.

The Trust is now encouraging new volunteers to join its weekly sessions and support ongoing work across the site. Those interested can sign up via the website: www.dukesmeadowstrust.org.
