The Dukes Meadows Trust is making a call for volunteers to help it with bulb planting this weekend.

The restoration of Promenade Approach and the area around the Pump House will complete early in the New Year.

This will restore the original grand entrance into the park and create a lovely, welcoming junction where the approach road meets the Thames Path at the Pump House. The Trust worked with Hounslow Council , which provided funds through a Thriving Communities Grant, to achieve the restoration.

To ensure that the area looks at its best this coming Spring, the Trust is planning to plant bulbs along the road. It has 2,000 Tete a Tete daffodil bulbs to create a splash of colour. The bulbs will be planted this Sunday 15 December between 11am and 1pm.

Trust Director Kathleen Healy said, “We need help to get the bulbs in, people can come for the whole session or drop by and plant just a few bulbs. We have tools but would ask volunteers to bring a trowel if they have one. Children are welcome if accompanied and supervised by an adult. Helpers will be able to enjoy seeing the bulbs they helped plant flower next Spring and in future years. Tete a Tetes are reliably perennial, bulking up over time and providing a good source of early pollen for insets as well as cheering up early Spring.”
