Figures suggest more could be done to prevent suicides
Figures released by Transport for London under the Freedom of Information Act show that no tube station has had more fatalities than Turnham Green over the last decade.
There have been six deaths on the tracks at the Chiswick station over the last ten years with the latest occurring in August.
Emergency services attend a fatality at Turnham Green this August
Three other stations which also saw six fatalities during the same period - King's Cross, Victoria and Mile End - but they all have a much higher number of passengers using them than Turnham Green.
The number of suicide attempts on the tube network has been rising in recent years with 82 reports in 2009 and 80 in 2010 higher than any of the preceding eight years. This includes cases when a person is prevented from climbing onto the track or jumping in front of the train. King's Cross has had the highest number of incidents, followed again by Victoria and Mile End.
The figures suggest there have been no unsuccessful suicide attempts at Turnham Green which may be due to the lower level of staffing compared to other stations and the lower level of monitoring of activity on the platform.
