The PTA arranged for an ice cream van visit as a treat

Chiswick School celebrated Thank a Teacher Day this year with a show of appreciation for its staff.
The school's Parent Teacher Association (PTA) arranged for an ice cream van to visit the school as well as providing a breakfast for all staff. The PTA wanted to show support for the tireless efforts of colleagues across the school.
This year’s celebration was made even more special as staff reflected on the school’s recent recognition as a Bronze winner in the Pearson national School of the Year awards—an honour that highlights the commitment of the Chiswick School community.
A particular highlight of the day was the announcement that Ms Kitteringham, a long-standing member of staff, had been highly commended by Pearson in their national awards for outstanding teaching. Ms Kitteringham has dedicated over 30 years to Chiswick School, supporting thousands of children throughout her career. As Head of PSHE and the lead for Character Education—a programme which recently earned national acclaim—her work has had a profound impact on pupils’ personal development and wellbeing. In addition, Ms Kitteringham holds responsibility for supporting looked-after children at the school, and this aspect of her role was particularly recognised in the commendation.
Headteacher Ms Laura Ellener said, “We are thrilled to celebrate our staff on Thank a Teacher Day. The generosity of our PTA and the recognition of Ms Kitteringham’s extraordinary contribution reflect the spirit and values of our school community. We are immensely proud.”
