| Staff at Belmont school in Chiswick will share in a cash bonus of more than £8,000 from the government for helping their students to achieve high or improved test results in 2002. The bonus awards are to be shared amongst all staff at the schools, including teaching and non-teaching staff. The school was one of 21 in the borough including Gumley House which were awarded a total of £253,410. The school achievement awards, which average £5700 per typical primary school and £25,700 per typical secondary school, were awarded to: • Schools
where pupil performance was substantially better than in 1999; Ann Keen MP for Brentford and Isleworth said, “These School Achievement Awards are a testament to the hard work of the staff and pupils at our local schools. Teachers do great work and I am delighted that this is being recognised by the Government. All the schools deserve our congratulations for their hard work and I wish them the best for the coming term.” Cllr Colin Ellar, Executive Member for Lifelong Learning, said, “Congratulations to the staff at all of the schools recognised for their achievements and especially to those who are being rewarded for delivering big improvements in their schools. Improving standards in Hounslow are dependent on the support of all staff in our schools, from dinner ladies and caretakers to office staff, which is why it is essential that all staff involved in schools are recognised when results improve and when high achievement is rewarded.” The money for awards will be distributed to schools via the Hounslow LEA in May through the Standards Fund.
