Music returns to Flanders Road as residents host their first street party in 32 years
Resident of Flanders Road held their first street party since 1977 last weekend and it proved to be great success.
The fun kicked off with a steel drum band followed by a quintet of local musicians and a classical guitarist.
West Play, a local charity brought playground equipment and organised races for children and adults alike. Dr. Bike (aka Kris Socha) was on hand to inspect bikes and promote local road awareness classes for cyclists.
Neighbourhood shops on Turnham Green Terrace were incredibly generous with their support. Macken Brothers Butchers donated hamburgers and sausages, Snap Dragon gave a bag of toys, and Wheelers Garden Centre donated a bouquet for the winner of the cake competition.
The party was enjoyed by all and residents are keen to make it an annual event.
