Advance warning sign at Turnham Green Terrace
November 5, 2025
Turnham Green Terrace will be closed to traffic for two nights later this month.
The road is being shut from 10pm on Wednesday 12 November until 5.30am the following day and will then shut again at 10pm with work expected to be completed by 5:30am on Friday 14 November, as Thames Water carries out works along the busy stretch between Chiswick High Road and the Bath Road roundabout.
The closures are necessary to enable essential sewer cleaning and surveying work required due to recent issues with blockages and flooding affecting nearby properties. The work will involve high-pressure water jetting.
Residents may experience increased noise and a slight odour during the operation. Large vehicles equipped with pumps will be used to maintain sewer flow, ensuring that household waste services such as toilets and showers remain operational.
For further information, residents can contact Thames Water at 0333 344 5680, quoting their address and reference number (SA-2004760). Lines are open at all times
During the closure, traffic will be diverted via Bath Road, Goldhawk Road, and Chiswick High Road, with the same route used in reverse. It is expected that the E3 will use this route over the time of the closure although TfL has yet to confirm.
Emergency vehicles and those directly involved in the works will be exempt. However, local residents and businesses may experience disruption, particularly those relying on overnight deliveries or early morning access.
The closure will be enforced under a temporary traffic order that remains valid for up to eighteen months, allowing for delays or remedial works if required.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets. We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more. However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them.
