But still lots of familiar faces amongst Chiswick councillors
Both Hounslow and Ealing Council have been won by Labour in surprise results that mirrored a strong comeback for the party across London in the local elections.
Despite this there was little change at the local level with nearly all the local councillors retaining their seats. In Hounslow Borough the same nine Chiswick Conservative councillors were returned and in the Ealing borough part of Chiswick the Liberal Democrats regained the seat they lost to the Conservatives at the last election to send three councillors to the Council. This means Andrew Steed is the only new Councillor for the Chiswick area.
Peter Thompson, Chiswick councillor and former head of the Conservative/ICG coalition which headed Hounslow Council is reported as having said after the defeat, "Obviously I need to get myself a job and rejoin the real world. As a group we will have to reflect on what happened and move forward. "
In Ealing Borough Councillor Gary Malcolm said: “It was a great result for the Liberal Democrats and we now have more Councillors than ever before. We all look forward to getting the Council to introduce policies which will help residents such as our Council Customer Charter that would ensure more residents were treated fairly by the Council.”
