A proposal to build four houses by the river in Grove Park has failed to win the support of Hounslow Council planners.
The plan was to develop the terraced houses in a large back garden site with river frontage.
There were 32 objections to the application for 17 Hartington Road on the grounds of unsympathetic design, lack of access provided to the riverside and loss of privacy for the neighbouring Chiswick Staithe estate.

Planning officers agreed that harm would be done to a locally listed building and a conservation area.
The property at 17 Hartington Road has for many years been divided into two flats. The proposal was to turn it back into a single dwelling and remove some of the later additions.
It was built in 1890 as part of a row of similar properties, the rest of which were demolished to make way for the Chiswick Staithe development in 1964.

The officer’s recommendation will now be put to the planning committee.
