Gateway Landmark Planned For Chiswick Roundabout

Thirteen years of planning applications being granted and refused, forum debates and presentations to numerous Residents' Associations have resulted in what property developer Kim Gottlieb hopes will realise his landmark dream.

Dubbed by one resident as a 'massive octopus' structure, the remarkable building has been designed by 'Gherkin' architect Ken Shuttleworth.

The site opposite Chiswick roundabout already has planning permission for a 59m tall, 200,000 square foot office scheme.

The latest design is for a 52m high building, which would be the same height as Vantage West, shorter than the BSi Tower at 64m, and the Pinnacle scheme (120m) which caused something of a stir a few years ago.

Just 25,000 square foot of office accommodation is planned with additional revenue sought through advertising.

Kim Gottlieb told ChiswickW4.com, "The primary objective of this current proposal is to provide a gateway landmark at a key juncture on the most important route into one of the world's greatest capital cities.

"This might sound like a lofty and grand aspiration, but we believe that the site deserves it and that the proposal will achieve this."

The new plans are due before the planning committee early 2010.
