No restaurant for riverside beauty spot but speculation has it that a mystery celebrity chef has not yet abandoned plan
Plans
to create an upmarket restaurant at Heron House on Chiswick Mall
came unstuck this week as planning permission was refused. The council's
reason for turning down the application was that “the proposal would
not preserve or enhance the Chiswick conservation area.'' He went on to argue that parking was not an issue and that other concerns such as noise and smells were unfounded, given the property's situation near the A4 and local brewery. He stressed that the issue of loss of residence would be offset by the creation of approximately 15 new jobs. An
agent's report that was presented to support the application was
the subject of a certain amount of ridicule as, in its attempt to
persuade the authorities that Chiswick Mall wouldn't suffer from
the establishment of a restaurant, it chose to portray the arguably
one of the most beautiful parts of London as suffering from chronic
noise and smells. |
