Police issue e-fit of suspect wanted in connection with attempted rape

Detectives investigating an attempted rape in Chiswick have issued an E-fit of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

The incident happened at approximately 02:50hrs on Sunday 12 September, in Dale Street junction with Quick Road, W4.

A 25-year old woman was attacked after a taxi dropped her off in the Chiswick High Road area.

The victim got out of a licensed black taxi and made her way down Dale Street towards Quick Road, Chiswick from the High Road, where she was approached by a man. He grabbed her and a short struggle ensued. He attempted to rape her, but she managed to break free.

The suspect then ran off towards the Hogarth Road area.

Police are keen to speak to a man described as black and aged between 20-30 years with short hair. He was unshaven and wearing light blue denim jeans.

Detective Constable James Pink, of the Metropolitan Police Service Sapphire Unit based at Hounslow, said: "This attack happened in a built up residential area and extensive police inquiries are ongoing to trace the man responsible. I would like to appeal to anyone with who may have been in the area at the time and has seen or heard anything suspicious. I am also appealing to the taxi driver who had driven the victim into the area prior to assault to come forward. He may be unaware of the awful event which took place after the journey, but he may be able to assist in our enquiries."
