A 34-year-old man has been charged with murder after his car was stopped in an operation involving armed police on Chiswick High Road this Wednesday (7 April).
Thomas Schreiber was taken to hospital after suffering self-inflicted gunshot wounds that are non-life threatening. As many as 16 police vehicles and two ambulances were involved in the operation which police say involved a 'hard stop' in which another vehicle was rammed into a Range Rover being driven by the suspect.
It is understood he has now been discharged from hospital and is due to appear before magistrates in Poole this Monday (12 April) charged with murder, attempted murder and dangerous driving.
His vehicle had been tracked from Dorset after a double stabbing near Gillingham in which a man in his eighties died and a woman in her sixties was critically injured. It has since been reported that the victims were his step-father and his mother.
Dorset Police received a report at 7.30pm on Wednesday 7 April raising concern for the welfare of the occupants of an address in Higher Langham.
When they arrived on the scene they found the man and the woman had been stabbed. The injured man was pronounced dead at the scene at around 9.15pm and a post mortem has subsequently give the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.
The injured woman, 65-year-old Anne Schreiber, was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where she remains in a critical condition.
The dead man has been named as her husband Sir Richard Sutton. He owned a large portfolio of hotels, property and farms across the country and appears on the Sunday Times Rich List.

A Range Rover believed to be linked to the incident was located travelling eastbound on the A303. With support from colleagues at Wiltshire Police, Hampshire Constabulary, Thames Valley Police, Surrey Police and the Metropolitan Police, the vehicle was subsequently stopped on Chiswick High Road
Detective Inspector Simon Huxter, of MCIT, said, “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who sadly died and the injured woman at this extremely difficult time and they are being supported by specially-trained officers.
“We will be carrying out a full investigation to establish exactly what happened at the address in Higher Langham and I would appeal to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area on the evening of Wednesday 7 April 2021 to please contact us.
“A cordon remains in place at the address and there will continue to be a heavy police presence in the vicinity as we carry out enquiries. Officers can be approached by members of the public with any information or concerns.”
The investigation into the incident is being led by detectives from Dorset Police's Major Crime Investigation Team.
