The latest official figures show three more people died in Chiswick last month from Covid-19. Data for this November has been published showing the W4 area has suffered its first fatalities from the disease since August. This brings the total number of deaths in the area attributed to the virus to 35.

Infections have continued to rise exponentially in Chiswick during December with the number of cases again more than doubling over the week before. 275 people tested positive in the area in the latest week. The government have attributed the rapid spread of infection across the country recently to a new, more virulent strain of the virus.

Bedford Park currently has the highest levels of infection with 47 cases in the week to 21 December equating to a rate of 682 cases per 100,000 population. The fastest rise came in the Chiswick North West area which saw an increase of 275.0% in a week.

Despite the exponential increase in infections locally, overall the local rate remains at the lower end of the range for London Boroughs. Hounslow has a rate currently of 575 per 100,000 and Ealing borough is 524 both less than half the level of the worst hit boroughs in the east of the capital.

On 25 December 2020 the daily number of new people tested positive for Covid-19 in London was reported as 9,790. The total number of Covid-19 cases identified in London is 299,263 as at 24 December 2020. This compares to a figure of 1,906,291 cases for England as a whole.

Tier four restriction are similar to those imposed during the first national lockdown with people being told to stay at home - although travel for education or work is still permitted.

Social mixing will be restricted to meeting one other person from outside your household in an open public space.

All non-essential retail will have to close, along with hairdressers, nail bars and indoor entertainment venues.

Support bubbles remain unaffected, as do the exemptions for separated parents and their children.
