Historical gardens to feature on BBC’s Gardeners World
Chiswick House Kitchen Garden Association runs classes for local schoolchildren every week in the seventeenth century walled gardens in Chiswick House grounds.
Last September, BBC TV came to film one of these sessions, starring the children from Year 6 of Cavendish School, under the leadership of their teacher, Deputy Headmaster Mick Flaherty.
Karen Liebreich, Project Co-ordinator for the CHKGA, was also interviewed about the development of the project to revive the walled gardens as an educational and horticultural space.
The program, will air on Friday 16th February at 8.30pm on BBC2, shows the children working busily creating a garden of beauty and productivity within the walls of Sir Stephen Fox’s 1682 garden.
The Kitchen Garden is next open to the public on Sunday 29th April, 1-5pm, and for regular drop-in work sessions once a month. Details on www.kitchengarden.org.uk
