Living and Giving Shop to open on the High Road
Mary Portas' newest Mary's Living & Giving Shop will be opening in Chiswick in the next few weeks.
Mary's Living & Giving Shops for Save the Children were established in 2009 by 'Queen of the High Street' Mary Portas, from a philosophy created for Save the Children.
The chain already has outlets in Richmond, Barnes, Westbourne Grove, Primrose Hill, Parsons Green and Edinburgh. The new shop will be at 152 Chiswick High Road and opens on 2nd February.
Mary Portas said, "When I opened my first Mary's Living & Giving Shop for Save the Children, little did I know that come 2013, we would have an emporium in the heart of Chiswick. The local community has been beyond amazing. They've really welcomed us, and embraced us wholeheartedly...they've been central to making my vision come alive. With donations coming in from designers, local artists, craftspeople, cake bakers and shoppers, this is a chance for you to have that long-awaited clear-out. Don't wait for Spring, make your resolution 'out with the old and in with the new', start now and donate today!"
The shop aims to be a different kind of charity shop. Their ethos says that they are 'a collaboration of people's ideals, values and beliefs; community hubs where people can come to find inspiration and share with others, whether that be news, a skill or the time of day.'
Mary promises that these shops offer a revolutionary antidote – a human and ethical shopping experience.
Refreshments will be served on opening day, and the team will be selling raffle tickets all in aid of Save the Children; giving shoppers the chance to win some very desirable prizes including a pampering experience donated by Chiswick Health & Wellness Spa (worth £85) and tickets for two to one of Street Art London's tour where you can discover the works of over 40 street artists.
Save the Children is appealing for more donations from the local communities, fashion houses and local artisans, as well as for local volunteers to work in the shop. To donate stock or to enquire about volunteering visit our website at www.savethechildren.org.uk or call 020 7012 6400.
