Andy Slaughter and Attorney General, Ellie Reeves called to the Northern Irish Bar

This week I travelled to Northern Ireland with Attorney General, Ellie Reeves, for the opening of the legal year and to cement links with the justice system there.
As Attorney and Solicitor General, Ellie and I hold the post of Advocate General for Northern Ireland and were called to the Northern Irish Bar. It was brilliant to speak with our counterparts in Belfast about ways we can strengthen our justice system.
Last weekend it was a pleasure to attend the 6th anniversary of Chiswick Flower Market with Chiswick Riverside Cllr Amy Croft, Mayor Ranjit Gill and Dept Lord Lieutenant. It was a wonderful celebration with cake, prosecco and a visit from BBC London to speak to flower growers about how the drought had impacted their businesses this summer.
I also attended Apple Days organised by Karen Liebreich and Abundance London to mark the apple harvest in Chiswick. As ever, there were fun events including apple bobbing, using an apple press and scratter, and painting insect pebbles.

On Thursday, I paid a visit to the Serious Fraud Office to meet with the Director and SFO staff and hear about some of the cases they are investigating and their current priorities. As Solicitor General, I hold responsibility of superintending the Serious Fraud Office and I look forward to working together to focus on tackling serious economic crime.

This weekend will be another busy one in the constituency. I hope to attend the Chiswick Book Festival, the Grove Park summer party, the Chiswick Horticultural Allotment Society autumn show, and working in the Holborn & St Pancras byelection.
