Three Taken to Hospital After Collision on Kew Bridge
Eye-witnesses report police chasing one of vehicles involved

Kew Bridge was briefly closed on Sunday (20 September) afternoon after a collision involving three vehicles led to a large emergency-services response. There were reports of a police pursuit moments before the crash.
Witnesses posting on social media say they a police car chasing another vehicle towards the bridge, with both vehicles mounting the pavement and the cycle lane before the suspect’s car collided with two other vehicles on the wrong side of the road. Some accounts suggested the driver then jumped from the bridge onto the foreshore, where officers detained him. The tide was low at the time, and although witnesses reported hearing police radio traffic about the suspect entering the river, the Metropolitan Police have not confirmed that a pursuit took place or that the man jumped.
The London Ambulance Service said it was called to the bridge shortly after the crash and sent multiple units, including ambulance crews, an incident response officer, a clinical team manager and an advanced paramedic practitioner. Four people were treated at the scene. Three were taken to hospital for further care, while a woman was discharged at the scene. The conditions of those taken to hospital have not yet been confirmed.
The A205 was closed in both directions for a short period, causing congestion around Brentford, Kew Green and Strand-on-the-Green before the road was reopened later in the afternoon. The police have not released further details about the circumstances of the incident or whether any arrests have been made.
