Double Honour for Chiswick House’s Artist in Residence
Barry Martin to get award and have painting hung at The Royal Society of Medicine

Chiswick House’s artist in residence, Barry Martin, is to receive a double award at The Royal Society of Medicine.

This Monday (9 June) he will be awarded a gold medal by psychiatrist Professor Ahmed Ali Khan, a life member of the Society and much decorated for his work in bringing together different faith groups, which was acknowledged by the late Queen Elizabeth.

Mr Martin is to receive the award for his contributions to art and culture. Professor Khan will also be donating a painting by the artist from his personal collection to the Society. The portrait of Tony Buzan will hang next to Freud’s portrait hanging in the Society’s gallery at 1 Wimpole Street. Tony Buzan is considered a world guru of mind mapping and Professor Khan is the vice chancellor of the Tony Buzan Academy.

The Chiswick-based artist already has works in public and private collections including The Tate Collection, The Victoria and Albert Museum, The Government Art Collection, The British Council, The Henry Moore Institute, Leeds City Art Museum, Heritage England, The Royal College of Art and many more.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.
