Daniel Barnett arrested on suspicion of murder
A murder investigation has been launched in Brentford after a woman died following an assault at
her home.
Police were called at around 2.10 am on Thursday 25 October, to reports of a
disturbance in Brook Road South.
Officers found a 77-year-old woman suffering head injuries. She has subsequently been named as Jean Farrer who lived alone at the address.
She was taken to hospital where she was later pronounced dead two hours later. The post mortem revealed that the cause of death was blunt trauma to the head and throat.
Daniel Barnett, aged 20 of Holly House, Brentford was arrested on suspicion of
murder nearby shortly after police arrived at the address, and has
been taken into custody at a west London police station.
The investigation is being led by the Homicide and Serious Crime Command
(HSCC) under Detective Chief Inspector Russell Taylor.
DCI Taylor said: "This was a horrendous attack on vulnerable woman and we are keen to speak to
anybody with any information regardless how trivial it is."
