Police are investigating after a man was injured and a firearm was discharged in Isleworth near the site of a murder that took place earlier this year.

Officers were called to Union Lane at 11.37pm on Tuesday, 3 December after reports of shots being fired. They found nobody injured at the scene but discovered evidence that a gun had been used.

A short while later a man presented himself at West Middlesex Hospital with stab wounds. He was treated for injuries that were described as non life-threatening.

No arrests have been made and a crime scene remained in place the following day. The location is very close to the spot were Brentford teenager Abdirashid Mohamoud was murdered in April of this year after being chased there from the Syon Park area. There has been no indication from the police that they are treating the two incidents as connection.

Hounslow Council released a statement after the incidents, saying, “We were saddened and very concerned to hear about guns being discharged, and the stabbing of a young man.

“We will, of course, work with and support the police in every way that we can as they carry out their investigations.

“We recognise the importance of engaging with and reassuring residents about their safety. That is why we are working with the Police, Notting Hill Genesis Housing Association, and local safer neighbourhood coordinator to arrange an urgent meeting with residents of the Harmony Estate and Union Lane to hear their concerns; share with them the actions that we are taking to improve the safety of the estate and our borough; and discuss what further steps could be taken.’’
