Financial Resilience Programme Comes to Acton Town Hall

Nexus helping residents build confidence in managing their money

The sessions aim to provide practical tools to enable confident financial decisions

October 8, 2026

Residents will have the chance to strengthen their financial confidence this autumn through a new three-week Financial Resilience Programme organised by Nexus Community.

The programme begins on Monday 12 October, running from 10:00am to 1:30pm at Acton Town Hall Library on Acton High Street, and is designed to give people practical tools to manage their money more effectively.

Across the three weeks, participants will explore the essentials of everyday financial management: understanding household spending, planning for regular costs, preparing for unexpected expenses, tackling debt and making confident financial decisions. The emphasis is firmly on achievable, real-life steps rather than financial theory, helping people develop strategies they can use immediately in their day-to-day lives.

The programme sits within Nexus Community’s wider mission to strengthen wellbeing, confidence and community connection. The organisation provides a range of support services that complement the aims of the Financial Resilience Programme, including:

  • Welfare Benefits Support Clear, expert guidance to help residents understand and claim the benefits they are entitled to, with step-by-step support on what may be available and how to access it.
  • Debt and Money Guidance Confidential, practical help to manage debt and improve financial stability, offering non-FCA regulated guidance to support informed decision-making.
  • Wellbeing Events Workshops and community sessions that promote mental and physical wellbeing, creating welcoming spaces for learning, connection and everyday support.

By combining financial education with wider wellbeing support, Nexus Community aims to help residents feel more confident, informed and in control of their future. The Financial Resilience Programme offers a structured, supportive environment for anyone looking to build stronger financial foundations and take positive steps towards long-term stability.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We've always done that and won't be changing, in fact we'd like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.
