Green Light for Redevelopment of Kwik Fit Site on the Vale
Three blocks of up to eight storeys to be built including 64 flats

Ealing Council has given permission for the demolition of two warehouses on the Vale to allow a major mixed use development on the site.
The site, which is across the road from Acton Park, is currently occupied by Kwik Fit and Chillicheeze Studios which is a dance and event space. These would be replaced with three blocks of up to eight storeys high containing flats and commercial space.
The 0.16 hectare site is at 231 The Value is at the junction with Eastman Road.
The development will include commercial space equivalent in square footage to that currently on the site. This will be designed for a variety of uses with the plan that it could be suitable for light industrial uses and start-ups.
Block A is the lowest height block, will be closest to The Vale and to the nearby newbuild at 257 - 259 The Vale. This block will be characterised by Art-Deco references such as curved, cut-out balconies, white brick cladding, and bronze metal panelling.
Block B is set further back from The Vale and it will take on a more industrial character, characterised by warehouse proportions with large window openings and dark brown
Block C is set even further back from The Vale and will also echo the industrial architecture of the area with grey bricks rather than block with the aim of lessening the contrast with the large blue storage building at the rear.

The flats will include 20 one bedroom units and 34 two bedroom with ten three bedroom. There will be no single aspect north-facing units and there will be terrace space and a central square in the development along with a roof garden.
15 of the flats in the development will be for social rent including nine of the three bed apartments and 10 other flats will be classed as intermediate affordable.
