Police in Acton have acted to clear a property near The Mount which is believed to have been ‘cuckooed’ by a gang of drug dealers.
This is a process in which criminals coerce a resident to let their home be used for their activities.
PC Dave Loveday said drug users had been gathering around 13A Horn Lane, where a dealer had gradually taken control of the property at the end of the alley next to the Doctors Surgery, first occupying the garden, then forcing out the tenant and using the flat for criminal activity.
The landlord, who was unaware of the situation until contacted by police, has now stepped in. His team has cleared the garden, begun repairing the flat, and is installing CCTV. Police have also been given access to the yard to include it in routine patrols.
Probation services have worked with officers to recall the main suspect to prison, though he remains wanted.
The action is part of broader efforts to reduce drug use and anti-social behaviour around The Mount. It is understood that the presence of the gang in the area had been contributing to the problem.
Loveday said officers are also focusing on Woodlands Park, which has become a gathering point for anti‑social behaviour. Patrols have increased, and warnings are being issued.
He added that the man known locally as “Lime Bike Guy” has been arrested and remanded.
