Victim of Fatal Stabbing in Acton Named

The woman who died after being stabbed in Acton this Monday (15 August) has been named as 58-year-old Aziza Bennis.
21-year-old Hanna Bennis, who was known to the victim, has been arrested in connection with her death and is due to appear in custody at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 17 August after being charged with murder. She had earlier been taken to hospital with a non-life-threatening injury before being transferred to police custody.
A man, also aged 21, was arrested at the scene but has since been released with no further action to be taken against him.
The attack took place shortly before 3.37pm at a flat on Boddington Gardens which is near Acton Town station and Gunnersbury Avenue. The emergency services attended including a helicopter from London’s Air Ambulance, but despite the efforts of paramedics Aziza Bennis was pronounced dead at the scene. A postmortem later found the cause of death to be multiple stab injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Jim Shirley, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said, “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the woman who has lost her life in this incident. They will continue to receive our full support.
“While an early arrest in this investigation is a positive development, we are still keen to build a picture of what happened.
“I would appeal to anyone who lives nearby or who was in the area at the time of the incident to come forward if they saw or heard anything unusual.
“No piece of information is insignificant.”
